I am working on a new course/webinar called “1-Page Marketing Plan for Accounting Professionals” partly inspired on the book: 1 Page Marketing Plan by Allen Dib
But adapted to the accounting/bookkeeping industry, some of the topics being considered are the following:
- Building a Brand is inefficient and that is OK
- Be a laser not a lightbulb – Strategic Positioning & Focus
- Simplify your message and the 30-sec “What do you do?” pitch: I am the X for Y that wants Z
- Timing your advertising: Prospect, Lead, and follow-up process (build an audience/database first, build trust, then you can sell to them). Do not sell, educate and influence.
- Introduction to the “Freemium” model strategy
- Experimentation & Innovation; and the deleterious effects of the obsession over efficiency
- The art of offering guarantees and lowering risk reduction
- Platform vs. Service/Products – “Products make you money, systems make you fortune”
- Start with productized services and gradually increase a customer’s lifetime value from first $1
- The unpredictable value of irrational thinking
- Building a Manifesto And the value of saying “NO”
- Pricing Strategy: by task, by time, by output/project, by outcome, vs by timeframe access.
The course would be a summary of everything I have learned about basic marketing strategy for an accounting firm (new or old), based on things I implemented when I started and continue to execute to date. Also, most of the content is also partially inspired by my favorite books that have influenced my thinking over the past decade:
- Implementing Value Pricing and Pricing on Purpose by Ron Baker
- The Effective Executive by Peter Drucker
- Positioning for Professionals and Take a Stand For Your Brand by Tim Williams
- Innovator’s Dilemma by Clayton Christiansen
- Extraordinary Guarantees by Christopher WL Hart
- Zero to One by Peter Thiel
- The Automatic Customer by John Warrilow
- Subscribed by Tien Zhou
- Let’s Get Real or Let’s Not Play by Mahan Khalsa
- Win Without Pitching Manifesto by Blair Enns
- Alchemy by Rory Sutherland
This course is slated to be available on December 2019 or “after tax season” on Late April 2020;
